Dust

If I close my eyes you can't see me,
Isn't that the way we're supposed to be?
Everyone recognizes my face, my name,
And yet, the silence and space beside me remains the same.

Behind the shadows of my lids,
there is a brain, a heart, a passion I cannot rid.
These too thin lips, secrets are concealed,
Budding love, I must not feel.

I'm the one who must be strong,
To everyone I belong.
The favor of loving me is not returned,
And yet, a tiny flame will always burn.

Inside my heart wishes unfold,
My dreams ... my desires too bold.
To truly be someone's number one,
The very thought is incinerated by the sun.

My body and heart are scattered about,
And yet, I know without a doubt,
The pieces of me, the wind will blow and gust,
And the incinerated ashes of me will simply become dust.
